What actually makes a good cycling jersey?

First and foremost, a cycling jersey should fit well, it should offer a high level of comfort and should be comfortable to wear. This also includes that the jersey is made of a pleasant and high-quality material, so that I feel comfortable in it even when worn for a long time. Secondly, the jersey should look good to me. Depending on my taste, whether I prefer to be flashy or prefer to ride discreetly. Striking and bright is for example the Aloha or our 10Jahres Collection.

Furthermore, the jersey, or the cycling clothes should be suitable for the weather, ie airy light KurzarmTrikots in summer and wärmend during cold days, as well as protective against moisture during regnerischen Tagen. Enclosed is the most important information that you should consider before buying.

On the choice of color for cycling jerseys

Dark or bright? We at RenéRosa think bright and eye-catching colors are more striking and therefore easier to see for motorists, because dark colors can also be dangerous in traffic during the day. The motorists can easily overlook the cyclists sometimes. Another advantage of light colors in cycling jerseys is that light colors, especially white, does not heat up as much as black or dark shades for a long time. Anyone who has ever noticed the direct difference between a black and white jersey in the summer will not want to wear a dark jersey again in the summer. No matter how thin, breathable fabrics are invented by fabric manufacturers: The choice of color is the decisive reason whether my jersey is warm or cold.
Bright and eye-catching jerseys are the e.g. the

In the reverse case, it is of course in cold weather with sunshine quite also advantageous if you wear dark colors in winter, especially if you stand somewhere briefly and make a break. As an additional advantage, it should be noted that you do not see the dirt so strongly on dark tones. Nevertheless, it should be noted that in winter it gets dark even earlier and often times during the day is very dark. Therefore, the danger with dark jerseys in traffic increases even more. To counteract this, a winter jacket should have reflectors in any case.
We at RenéRosa have therefore decided to place reflectors completely on the back pockets, so that the risk of being overlooked can be reduced.
If you are in the forest on the road, then earth tones can also be advantageous in cycling clothing, so that you do not bring the forest dwellers too bad in unrest.

The processing:

A good cycling jersey can also be recognized by its workmanship. The easiest way to find out whether clean work and high-quality sewing machines with the correct settings of thread, yarn and machine were used, is the following: Simply turn your cycling jersey inside out and you will see whether clean work was done. Whether you have a neatly sewn jersey with a neat seam will become apparent very quickly here. Even seams are a sign of a correct setting.
A protruding thread can occur from time to time, important here, do not pull on the thread, but simply cut with scissors. Should nevertheless times a seam open so we can repair your jersey of course again, within one year this is also free.

The material:

A good cycling jersey is of course also made of a good material. As with a chef, it is important that the chef uses only the best ingredients, so that the dish also tastes and is healthy. It is the same with cycling jersey:
A cycling jersey is usually made of different fabrics: Front and back parts made of opaque material, usually with some elastane to better fit the body. The sleeves and side parts are made of stretchy material, so that the jersey adapts even better to the body shapes. In addition, this material is often somewhat thinner and airier to provide more breathability.
The cycling jersey should have a full-length zipper, so that the jersey can be quickly on and off without having to remove the helmet and goggles. The zipper is the central element of the cycling jersey, this should be particularly high quality and run well without hooking or jamming anywhere. We of RenéRosa use the market leader YYK, and our rate that with us times a zipper breaks down is since then at almost zero.
Additional features, such as grip bands on the arms or silicon cuffs help further increase the wearing comfort of a cycling jersey.

The fit:

As already mentioned, the jersey should fit well. According to my size, I can orient myself to the size tables. Nevertheless, this is not always 100% reliable, because you should always also consider for what use I want to wear the jersey. If I want to ride sporty on the road bike, and my jersey skin tight, then I should rather go one size smaller. If I want to wear it normally, not too tight, but fit well, then the size specification in the table would also apply so. However, if I want to wear my jersey rather wide and casual, then it is better to take one size larger. This may be especially true if I am on the road with the MTB or e-bike and want to have my jersey just a little looser. If there is any doubt about the fit, then it is better if you briefly call us and ask us what we advise you.

For care:

Cycling clothes also need care, and this includes regular washing. That means I should wash my cycling clothes in the washing machine after every wear. Washing by hand is only suitable in emergencies, and will shorten the life of my jersey by wringing it out by hand. Zippers should be closed before washing. The jersey does not need to be turned inside out. Contact with Velcro must be avoided at all costs, then Velcro is the killer of printed cycling jerseys, and destroys the cycling clothing (For this reason we do not make anything with Velcro) Washing in the washing machine should be as gentle as possible, also use detergents as sparingly as possible and use the gentlest detergents possible. Mostly the main reason why cycling jerseys lose their color is due to aggressive detergent. From individual customers we have received feedback that you can also wash without detergent with a washing nut, and thus have as long as possible fun with his bike jersey.
